How does A Migel 2% Oral Gel work?

A Migel works by killing the fungus responsible for the infection, thereby reducing symptoms of inflammation like redness, swelling, and itching.

Side Effects of A Migel 2% Oral Gel

Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (with long-term use), and rarely, allergic reactions.

Quick Suggestions:

• Apply an amount sufficient to cover the affected area and 1 inch of the immediate surrounding skin.
• Treatment may be needed for 2 to 6 weeks for skin infections and 6 weeks to 6 months for nail infections.
• Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
• Avoid getting it in the eyes, nose, or mouth. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Indication of A Migel 2% Oral Gel

Used for the treatment of oral and gastrointestinal candidiasis, eradication of fungal colonization in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract, and for the treatment of superinfections due to gram-positive bacteria.

Pharmacology

Miconazole, the active ingredient, has antifungal and antibacterial properties. It inhibits ergosterol synthesis, disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death.

Dosage & Administration of A Migel 2% Oral Gel

• The dosage varies depending on the age and condition being treated. For oral candidiasis, infants aged 4-24 months may take 1.25 ml (1⁄4 measuring spoon) of gel four times a day after meals, while adults and children aged 2 years and older may take 2.5 ml (1⁄2 measuring spoon) of gel four times a day after meals.
• Wash your hands before and after treating the infection.
• Apply the gel directly to the affected area of the mouth using a clean finger. For oral candidiasis, dental prostheses should be removed at night and brushed with the gel.

Interaction

Avoid concomitant use with Terfenadine, Astemizole, and Cisapride due to potential inhibition of their metabolism by A-Migel. Monitor phenytoin and cyclosporine plasma levels when used concomitantly.

Contraindications

Miconazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient

Caution is advised during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to limited safety data. The potential risks should be balanced against the possible benefits, and caution should be exercised when administered to nursing women.

Precautions & Warnings

• Accidental overdosage may cause vomiting and diarrhea. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, as there is no specific antidote available.
• Avoid direct contact with A Migel with your eyes. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse your eyes with water and seek immediate medical attention.
